a-Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone (aMSH) is a hormone that belongs to the family of melanocortins. It is an analog of ACTH, which stimulates the production of melanin in cells by binding to MC1 and MC2 receptors. aMSH has been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation, induce neuronal differentiation, and promote the growth of pluripotent cells. It also has immunomodulatory effects on tissue culture cells, including inhibition of T-cell proliferation and activation as well as suppression of natural killer cell activity.
