• Descripción: Mordant Orange 1 is a water-soluble polymeric dye that has been shown to be an effective chelator for metal ions. It has been used in wastewater treatment, as well as in human serum, to remove hydrophobic substances. Mordant Orange 1 binds to the metal ions and prevents them from reacting with the biological system. The binding of Mordant Orange 1 can be demonstrated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy on a flow cell. It is also capable of removing yellow coloration from textile fibers. This dye also binds to alizarin, which is a red dye that can be found in plants such as madder and rhubarb. This binding mechanism is due to hydrogen bonds and amine groups present on the surface of Mordant Orange 1 (see below).
