1-[(4-Methylphenyl)sulfonyl]-4-(phenylsulfonyl)piperazine is a drug that is used to treat cancer. It has been shown to inhibit the function of the multidrug resistance protein (MRP), which is found in the membrane of cells. MRP transports drugs and other molecules out of cells, preventing them from accumulating and causing toxic effects. 1-[(4-Methylphenyl)sulfonyl]-4-(phenylsulfonyl)piperazine inhibits MRP activity by binding to the transporter and blocking its exit site, thereby preventing it from transporting drugs out of cells.
