2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridine is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of organic compounds known as acid complexes. It forms acid complexes with metal ions such as copper, zinc, and nickel. 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridine has been shown to cause systolic hypertension and congestive heart failure in animal studies. 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridine may also have a role in the pathogenesis of cardiac hypertrophy by inhibiting the production of epidermal growth factor. The clinical relevance and symptoms of 2-methyl-5-vinylpyridine are unknown at this time.
2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridine is an analytical reagent used for measuring water permeability in various substances using a vector electrochemical technique called cyclic voltammetry (CV). This technique is based on the principle that the reduction potentials of different substances depend on their concentration in water solutions
