5-(Methoxycarbonyl)pyridine-2-carboxylic acid is a polyoxometalate ligand. It has been shown to coordinate to metal ions, such as arsenic and tungsten, through its carboxylate group. The coordination sites are accessible from both sides of the molecule, making it possible for the 5-(Methoxycarbonyl)pyridine-2-carboxylic acid molecule to bind with two metal ions simultaneously. This compound can also form a complex with yttrium and form a polyoxometalate cluster that contains four oxo groups.
