Descripción:
Methyl 2-pyridylmethyl ether is a chiral ligand that can be used as a crystalline reagent for the synthesis of biologically active compounds. Methyl 2-pyridylmethyl ether has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of bacterial growth, with an IC50 of 0.1 μM. It also inhibits the growth of yeast and fungi, with IC50s of 1.2 and 3 μM respectively. The inhibition may be due to methyl 2-pyridylmethyl ether binding to the enzyme ATP synthase, which produces ATP from ADP and inorganic phosphate. Chloride ions increase the activity of this compound in vitro by increasing its solubility and making it more reactive with ATP synthase.
