Methyl 2-amino-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1-benzothiophene-3-carboxylate is a fluorescent compound that has a high quantum yield of fluorescence. It has been shown to be highly soluble in polar solvents such as methanol and ethanol. The absorbance spectrum of this compound exhibits a bathochromic shift when compared to the absorbance spectra of other known compounds. The emission spectra show a strong fluorescence with an emission maximum at 585 nm. Methyl 2-amino-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1-benzothiophene-3-carboxylate is not photostable and can undergo photodegradation.
