Methyl Heptadecafluorononanoate (MF-HFN) is a labile polymer that can be made into films. These films can be used for lithography, which is the process of transferring a design onto a surface. MF-HFN may also be used to encapsulate or pattern organic solvents and other materials. MF-HFN has been shown to be resistant to radiation, organic solvents, and hydrofluoric acid. This polymer is also soluble in methyl alcohol, but not water. MF-HFN is emulsifying and can form films with high thermal stability. It is also used as a metabolic product in the body and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties.
