It is also used as a solvent for acetylcholine and other organic compounds, as well as in the isolation of heart proteins. N-Methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)formamide is a colorless liquid with an odor resembling that of formaldehyde or acetone. This compound is soluble in water, methanol and ethylene diamine, but insoluble in hydrochloric acid or inorganic acid.
