Descripción

N-(4-Methoxybenzylidene)-4-hydroxyaniline is an antifungal compound that is found in the leaves of the Meliaceae family. It has been shown to have potent antifungal properties against various fungi, including the fungus that causes leaf spot on citrus trees. The compound was first isolated from a methanol extract of leaves, but more recently it has been found in infected leaves that were macerated and analyzed with a densitometer. This compound belongs to the class of phenolic compounds, which are known for their antimicrobial properties. It is believed that N-(4-methoxybenzylidene)-4-hydroxyaniline may be active against bacteria as well as fungi.
