Descripción:3-Methoxybenzamide is a chemical inhibitor of the enzyme cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of dopamine and histamine at concentrations of 1 mM and 10 mM, respectively. 3-Methoxybenzamide inhibits bacterial growth by causing cell lysis through a mechanism that is not yet understood. 3-Methoxybenzamide has a minimal toxicity in animals and humans and can be used as an antimicrobial agent in cell culture. The optimum pH for activity is between 7.5 and 8.5, with a maximum activity at pH 9.0. 3-Methoxybenzamide also inhibits the synthesis of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) from ATP, which leads to decreased levels of cyclic AMP (cAMP).
