3-Methoxyphenoxyacetic acid is a molecule that belongs to the group of phenolic compounds. It is found in the ethanol extract of Apium graveolens and has been shown to inhibit the apigenin-elicited planthopper response and to possess an ionization potential (IP) similar to other molecules that have been shown to be active against plant pests. 3-Methoxyphenoxyacetic acid has also been shown to have cytotoxic activity against human cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to bind with a pharmacophore found in many drugs used for anticancer treatment.
