Methyl 3-[[2-[4-(2-adamantyl)phenoxy]acetyl]amino]-4-hydroxybenzoate, also referred to as MOPP, is a potent inhibitor of the polymerase chain reaction. It binds to the DNA and prevents it from being replicated, which results in decreased cellular proliferation and tumor growth. MOPP has been shown to inhibit the hif-1 protein in vivo and in vitro models. It also inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and cyclic AMP levels. MOPP has shown potent antitumor activity in some cases of breast cancer, with a response rate of up to 50%.
