The mode of action involves the inhibition of mycolic acid synthesis, which is critical for the maintenance and construction of the cell wall in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This inhibition disrupts bacterial cell wall integrity, ultimately exerting a bactericidal effect against actively replicating and dormant mycobacterial cells.
