N-Me-Thr-OMe·HCl is an analogue of the drug deglycobleomycin. It has a high selectivity for DNA cleavage, which abolishes inherent resistance to bleomycin. N-Me-Thr-OMe·HCl also has structural and efficiency advantages over other analogues. This drug has been shown to be effective in treating leukemia and lymphoma, where it prevents the synthesis of DNA and RNA by inhibiting dna cleavage. The hydrogen bond between l-threonine and threonine is essential for the formation of this drug. The epimerization of l-threonine to dl-threonine is essential for the synthesis of this drug.
