mPEG5-OH is a cyclic peptide that can be used to generate pluripotent cells. It has been shown to have minimal toxicity in animal studies and is not cytotoxic. It can also be used as a cell factor, which promotes growth and survival of stem cells. mPEG5-OH has been shown to inhibit the activity of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) in syncytial virus infection, and has shown promise in skin cancer treatment by inhibiting the growth of human melanoma cells. The drug is being studied for its potential use in treating diseases related to body mass index, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
