3'-O-methylsappanol is a phenolic compound that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against the Caesalpiniaceae. It also has inhibitory activities against some other organisms, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 3'-O-methylsappanol inhibits the growth of bacteria by interacting with phenolic compounds in the bacterial cell wall, which leads to cell death through inhibition of protein synthesis. 3'-O-methylsappanol also has been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as positive effects on cardiovascular health.
