Morinidazole is a drug that is used in the preparation of pharmaceutical preparations and as a diagnostic agent. Morinidazole has shown antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, but not fungi. Morinidazole inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the matrix effect, which is an effect on bacterial metabolism caused by changes in pH and hydroxyl group levels. It has been shown to have a metabolic rate that varies with the concentration of hydroxyl groups in a solution. Morinidazole has also been studied for its pharmacokinetics properties in humans and for its effects on hepatic impairment. This drug is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, distributed to tissues, metabolized by erythrocytes, excreted through urine, and eliminated from the body in 24 hours.
