4-Methoxyphenyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (4-MPTMS) is an organic compound that undergoes a nucleophilic substitution reaction with a boronic acid. It is the first of a series of boronic acid-containing compounds that can be used in the scalable synthesis of complex natural products. The reactivity of 4-MPTMS towards common functional groups, such as bromides and chlorides, makes it useful in cross-coupling reactions with electron deficient molecules.
4-MPTMS forms a stable bond with chloride ions, which allows for the use of chloride salts as catalysts or ligands in multimetallic processes. This compound can also be used to synthesize biomolecules in functional theory experiments.
