5-Methyl-17-Fluoroheptadecanoic Acid is a reactive methyl group that is found in fatty acids and triglycerides. It is metabolized by the body, but its uptake and tissue distribution are not yet fully understood. 5-Methyl-17-Fluoroheptadecanoic Acid is used to study metabolic pathways of fatty acid derivatives, and has been shown to be taken up into muscle cells. The positron emission from this compound can be used in positron emission tomography (PET) scans to detect the uptake of 5-Methyl-17-Fluoroheptadecanoic Acid in various tissues.
