Methyltrioctylammonium Trifluoroacetate is an ionic liquid that consists of a cation and an anion. It has a high melting point, can be used as a solvent, and can dissolve many organic compounds. Methyltrioctylammonium Trifluoroacetate is synthesized by the reaction between methyltrioxoacetonitrile and trifluoroacetic acid. This inorganic compound is characterized by its hydroxyl group on the surface that results from the polymerization process. The diameter of these particles ranges from 1 to 20 nm with an average particle diameter of 4 nm. The ionic liquid is synthesized via polymerization initiator such as benzoyl peroxide or azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN).
