2-Methoxy-4,6-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid is a solvent that can be used in elemental analysis. It forms stable complexes with magnesium and pyridine. 2-Methoxy-4,6-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid has been shown to form stable complexes with both benzoic acid and pyrazine. It has also been used as a target compound for FTIR spectroscopy. 2-Methoxy-4,6-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid has an IR spectrum that peaks at 3294 cm−1 and can be used for the identification of substituents on pyrazine compounds.
