5'-Demethylaquillochin is a flavonoid that is found in China. It has shown chemopreventive properties, antioxidant effects and pharmacological activities in cancer cell lines. 5'-Demethylaquillochin also has been shown to have medicinal properties, and can be used as a natural product for the prevention of diseases such as cancer. This compound is an effective inhibitor of lipid peroxidation induced by hydroxyl radicals and nitric oxide, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory properties. 5'-Demethylaquillochin also has been found to inhibit the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines in vivo. 5'-Demethylaquillochin's phenolic structure has been found to be responsible for its anti-inflammatory activity.
