Descripción

Sagopilone is a Chinese analog that has shown potent anticancer activity. It is a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor that inhibits cancer cell growth by preventing the activation of proteins necessary for cell division. Sagopilone has been shown to be effective against a variety of human cancers, including tumors resistant to other inhibitors. This drug has also demonstrated apoptotic effects on cancer cells, inducing programmed cell death. Sagopilone may be used in combination with other anticancer drugs as it has been shown to enhance the efficacy of other kinase inhibitors. Sagopilone is excreted mainly through urine and has shown minimal toxicity in preclinical studies.
