2-(4-Nitrophenyl)acetohydrazide is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the class of activated chemical strategies. It has been shown to be active against gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Clostridium perfringens, in biological studies. 2-(4-Nitrophenyl)acetohydrazide is a molecule with a pyrrole ring and an acid hydrazide group, which are both ligands for bacterial enzymes. This compound also has a minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.5 µg/mL against some gram-negative bacteria. The MICs of 2-(4-Nitrophenyl)acetohydrazide against Staphylococcus aureus and Clostridium perfringens were found to be 1 µg/mL and 0.125 µg/mL respectively.
