- 1,6-Naphthyridin-2-Ol
1,6-Naphthyridin-2(1H)-one is a hydroxy group containing compound that inhibits HIV integrase. It has been shown to be effective in treating Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. 1,6-Naphthyridin-2(1H)-one also has anti-cancer properties. The exact mechanism of its activity is not known, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of cancer cells or to inhibit the activation of the benzodiazepine receptor on the surface of cells. This drug also acts as an antibiotic against some bacterial strains such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
