It has been shown to be metabolized by the liver in two steps, forming reduction products and interacting with thiourea. This drug also has functional groups which are active in the group p2 of the periodic table, such as diphenyl ethers and aminophenols. 4-(4-Nitrophenoxy)aniline can be used to probe the interaction between an enzyme and its substrate.
