2-Naphthalenebutyricacid is a carboxylic acid that crystallizes in the herringbone pattern. 2-Naphthalenebutyric acid is an analog of butanoic acid and belongs to the group of p2 aliphatic compounds. It reacts with hydrogen to produce a cross-coupling reaction. The compound is used in electron microscopy as a stain for lipids. 2-Naphthalenebutyric acid has been shown to be enantiopure, meaning that it contains only one type of chiral center. This allows it to be used as a spectroscopic reference material, as well as in cross-coupling reactions.
