3H-Naphtho(2,1-b)pyran-3-one is a fluorescent dye that has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro. It binds to DNA and inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to the nucleic acid strand and preventing its replication. 3H-Naphtho(2,1-b)pyran-3-one has been shown to be a fluorophore that can be conjugated with other molecules and used for molecular modelling. It has also been used for clarification in biological samples. The spectroscopic properties of 3H-Naphtho(2,1-b)pyran-3-one have been studied using nmr spectra and molecular modelling techniques.
