Nonyl-gly-OH is a water-soluble, organic compound that belongs to the group of antimicrobial peptides. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against the Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli. Nonyl-gly-OH inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the cell membrane and destabilizing it. The peptide sequence is CGLN(COOH)CH2CH2COOH, where each amino acid can be replaced with a different amino acid (e.g., glycine can be substituted with alanine).
