1-Naphthylmethyl methacrylate is a fluorescing compound that has been used in fluorescence studies to study the properties of various molecules and materials. The compound is activated by light, which causes it to undergo an electronic transition from the ground state to an excited state. In the excited state, energy is released as photons in the visible region of the spectrum. The wavelength at which maximum emission occurs depends on the chemical structure of 1-naphthylmethyl methacrylate.
