5-Nitroanthranilide is a reactive compound that can be synthesized from the reaction of an amine with a diazonium salt in the presence of a carbonyl group. The reactive group is usually hydroxyl, although other groups such as methoxy and chloride may also be present. 5-Nitroanthranilide has been used as a synthetic intermediate for the production of naphthols. This compound reacts with sodium hydroxide to form an alkaline solution. 5-Nitroanthranilide is also functionalized with primary amines and polyvinyl chloride, which are both common in industrial applications.
