2-Nitroaminoimidazoline is an extractant that can be used to remove pollutants from wastewater. It has the ability to react with a wide range of functional groups, including carboxylic acids, amines, phenols, and alcohols. This compound also inhibits the growth of Camptotheca acuminata plants. 2-Nitroaminoimidazoline can be crystallized as a white solid with a melting point of 121°C. The reaction mixture is introduced into a reaction vessel at high temperature and pressure. This process is carried out in two stages: the first stage involves the formation of nitrosoamines and nitrosamines, while the second stage involves the formation of nitrosoamine hydrochloride and hydrogen chloride gas. 2-Nitroaminoimidazoline has been shown to have an apoptosis-inducing effect on cells in culture, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cell division through inhibition of RNA synthesis
