5-Nitroindoline is a synthetic compound that has been the subject of x-ray crystal structures. The compound is a white solid with a melting point of 159°C. It has polarizability and intramolecular hydrogen, nitrogen atoms, and chloride substituents. 5-Nitroindoline can be synthesized from an intermediate trifluoroacetic acid by acetylation. It can also be obtained from the reaction of nitrobenzene and indoline. The efficiency of 5-nitroindoline as an insecticide is high, but it does not have any significant activity against nematodes or fungi.
