Cy5-NHS trimethylamine salt binds to proteins with an affinity that is dependent on their size, shape, and polarity. It has been shown to be effective as a chemotherapy agent against mouse tumor cells in culture and has also been used as a diagnostic agent for the detection of prostate cancer. This probe is hydrophilic and biocompatible.
