N-(4-Nitrophenyl)-3-oxobutyramide is a drug candidate for the treatment of tuberculosis. It has been shown to have antitubercular activity in vitro. In this study, N-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-oxobutyramide was synthesized and screened for antitubercular activity using an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. The molecular weight of this compound is 215.2 g/mol and its elemental analysis showed that it consists of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen. The chemical structure of N-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-oxobutyramide is a carboxamide moiety with two imidazole substituents on either side. This compound can also be classified as a dicyclohexyl proton because it contains a carbonyl group (-C=O) attached to a ring system containing two other rings which are both five members in size (
