Descripción:
4-Nitro-p-terphenyl is a nitrostyrene that undergoes photolysis and produces singlet oxygen. It has been used in the synthesis of other organic compounds, such as 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene. 4-Nitro-p-terphenyl is also a laser dye that fluoresces under ultraviolet light. The nature of this compound is unknown. 4-Nitro-p-terphenyl is not soluble in water or hydrocarbons, but it can be dissolved in solvents such as dichloromethane and chloroform.
