3-Nitrobenzoic acid is an organic compound with the formula of CHNO. It is a white solid that is soluble in water. 3-Nitrobenzoic acid is a coordination complex that has been shown to have solubility data, x-ray diffraction data, and coordination geometry. It can be prepared by reacting p-hydroxybenzoic acid and hydrogen gas. 3-Nitrobenzoic acid has been shown to react with molecular oxygen to form peroxynitrite, which then reacts with hydrogen molecules to form water vapor. The reaction mechanism for 3-nitrobenzoic acid is as follows:
