2-(4-Nonylphenoxy)acetic acid is the main metabolite of nonylphenol, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. It has been shown to have an antioxidant effect and protect cells against oxidative damage. 2-(4-Nonylphenoxy)acetic acid also inhibits the growth of cultured cancer cells.
