Neurokinin A (4-10) is a peptide that interacts with the acetylcholine receptor, which is found in the muscle and brain. It has been shown to have antiulcer activity in rat models. The analog of this peptide, substance P, is a potent activator of the acetylcholine receptor. Neurokinin A (4-10) binds to the receptor with a high affinity, and it has been shown to have an inhibitory dose of 1 nM. This peptide may be involved in carcinoid syndrome through its ability to enhance the release of serotonin from enterochromaffin cells.
