Norcantharidin is a natural product that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells. Norcantharidin has been shown to induce apoptosis in human cancer cells and has a binding affinity for DNA, which may be the basis of its anti-cancer activity. Norcantharidin was also found to be effective against HL60 cells with low-dose treatment, leading to increased apoptosis. The anti-cancer properties of this compound are thought to be due to its ability to inhibit the apoptosis pathway.
