ODF has been shown to be effective in experiments for the prevention of water vapor from entering optical systems by acting as a barrier against atmospheric water vapor and other gases that can cause air bubbles inside the system. The ODF films are also less dense than polyethers and are more transparent than polyethers or perfluorinated polymers.
