• Descripción: Edelfosine is a phospholipid that selectively binds to nuclear DNA, leading to apoptosis. It also binds to the G-protein coupled receptors and inhibits the release of Ca2+ from intracellular stores. Edelfosine has been shown to inhibit the growth of Leishmania in vitro as well as in vivo. This drug is being studied for its potential use in inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
