Descripción

1-Oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid is an enzyme inhibitor that binds to the active site of the enzyme angiotensin. It has been shown to be a potent hypotensor in rats and rabbits. In vitro experiments have also shown it to inhibit enzymes such as benzoate reductase and cyclooxygenase. 1-Oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid is used in the synthesis of carboxylic acid derivatives including acyl groups such as aralkyl groups. The enzyme inhibitory activity of this chemical is related to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with residues on the protein surface.
