5-Oxopyrrolidine-3-carboxamide is a synthetic, hydrophobic compound that has antimycobacterial activity. It inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex by inhibiting fatty acid biosynthesis and fatty acid synthesis. This drug also has an effect on the synthesis of bioactive molecules such as triclosan, which is a widely used antibacterial agent. The molecular docking analysis has shown that 5-Oxopyrrolidine-3-carboxamide binds to the active site of the enzyme, inhibiting its function.
