It also inhibits the activity of enzymes such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase, pyruvate decarboxylase, and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase. 3-Oxopropanoic acid has been shown to be active against E coli K-12 with a pKa of 4.5.
