Descripción

Octachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin is a polychlorinated dibenzodioxin that is a byproduct of the production of certain pesticides. It is used in the preparation of various samples for analysis. Octachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin can be detected by a multivariate logistic regression, which provides information on the congener and diphenyl ether content. This compound can also be detected in humans through body mass index measurements. The hydroxyl group enables it to react with copper chloride to form octachlorodiphenyl oxide, which then reacts with p-hydroxybenzoic acid to form octachloro-p-hydroxybenzoic acid. Octachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin has been shown to have an adverse effect on humans, as it increases their risk of developing obesity and fatty liver disease.
