- (9Z)-9-Octadecenoic acid (S)-2,3-dihydroxypropyl ester1-Monooleoyl-sn-glycerol
- (2R)-2,3-dihydroxypropyl (9Z)-octadec-9-enoate
1-Oleoyl-sn-glycerol is a component of the phosphatidylcholine class of lipids. It is a fatty acid that contains one oleic acid molecule and one glycerol molecule in ester linkage. 1-Oleoyl-sn-glycerol is a ligand for toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), which has been shown to play an important role in the innate immune response. TLR4 binds to 1-oleoyl-sn-glycerol, activating nuclear factor erythroid 2 p45 related factor 2 (Nrf2) and increasing mitochondrial biogenesis through the transcriptional regulation of genes encoding proteins involved in mitochondrial function, such as ATP synthase subunit beta, NADH dehydrogenase subunit 3, and cytochrome c oxidase subunit II. As a result, 1-oleoyl-sn glycerol has been found to have antioxidant properties.
