Descripción

OSU-03012 is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial with a novel mechanism of action. It inhibits the pyrazole ring and blocks the synthesis of nucleic acids, which prevents cell proliferation and induces apoptosis. OSU-03012 has been shown to be active against bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Chlamydia trachomatis; fungi such as Candida albicans; viruses such as herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1); and protozoa such as Entamoeba histolytica. In addition, OSU-03012 does not induce resistance in viruses or bacteria, suggesting that it may have use for long periods of time.
