Descripción

Z-13-Octadecenol is a synthetic pheromone that is used in the study of insects and other invertebrates. It is often used as an attractant to produce precopulatory behavior in moths, and for other purposes such as the suppression of male mating behavior in female Drosophila melanogaster. Z-13-Octadecenol has been shown to have significant effects on geometrical isomers of fatty acids which are produced by lepidopteran larvae. This compound also attracts conspecifics, or members of the same species, and is found in the host plant volatiles of Crambidae.
